E3 2016: Predictions?

words by DrJohnGalt

About a week ago the predictions, leaks, and rumors swirling around this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo started flying around the internet faster than planted stories on Facebook’s newsfeed. There are a bunch of trending topics surrounding the 2016 E3 and the satellite events, including what’s new with VR, the future of current-gen consoles (PS4  – which is sounds like WILL NOT be getting detailed coverage – and XBoxOne) and maybe even the Nintendo NX. And of course, the games.

But as we’ve seen in the past, many of the E3 promises, teasers, and trailers don’t actually live up to the finished project. So don’t all rush to jump on the hype wagon, folks.

Here’s the schedule:

Still, it’s fun to speculate. A few of the things I’m looking forward to are confirmation of Skyrim Remastered, more on Battlefield 1, Prey 2, Wolfenstein 2, Watchdogs 2, and World of Final Fantasy. Others getting some talk are Agents of Mayhem, Deus Ex, Titanfall 2, Evil Within 2, Injustice 2, Zelda, God of War 4, Dead Rising 4, a new Conan… the list goes on and on.

Not surprisingly, there are a bunch of sequels but relatively few new ideas. Stick with what works, right? Not always a bad thing, but I’d like to see something I haven’t seen before.

And as one NLPL crew member commented, E3 2016 will have just as many delay announcements as new game announcements.

Besides, a lot of the speculation has centered around games that have already been leaked, teased, or officially announced. What big surprises are you hoping to see?

I’m already sold on a remastered Skyrim (unfortunately it’s been confirmed there WILL NOT be a remastered Morrowind) and I’m in line to pre-order Battlefield 1 and Watchdogs 2, but what else should I get excited about?

What are some of the things you’re looking forward to?

Kotaku has done a series of interesting posts about whether Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony have lived up to their promises made since the last E3.
