Fallout 76 [E3 2018]
words by DrJohnGalt
I don’t know why it was so hard to convince my friends that Fallout 76 was going to be something worth picking up. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t sure myself. After all, rumors said it was yet another online survival game, and even the good ones get boring rather quickly. And that’s not even taking into account the vanilla “one-size-fits-all experience”, the uninspired missions, the trolls and online douches, the repetitive grinding and the technical inconsistencies of other MMOs and online survival titles.
But after seeing the full presser for the game, I’m sold. I’m still not convinced it’s going to live up to what I want, but I’m at least willing to give it a try. Is this going to be another mediocre experience like ESO? Maybe. But as a fan I cannot pass this up!
For years I’ve been hoping for a co-op Fallout experience, and now it’s (almost) here. It sounds like there will be enough here to set this one apart from the other games in the online survival genre, but I’m going to wait to see what we get before I let myself get too much more excited.
What did you think of the announcement? Who’s getting it for which platforms? (I’m going to pre-order for PC and have already bought the Power Armor Collector’s Edition for PS4). Let me know what you thought about the press conference in the comments below!
